Android will help Google dominate the market?
Analysts even believe that one day, Android could dominate the market for operating systems for mobile phones.
However, an obstacle on the way up the throne of Android that is dominant on the patent battle.
In fact, Google-HTC, Motorola, and Samsung, are three phone maker to use Android’s largest, and are caught in cases of copyright infringement lawsuits.
This is basically normal, but with Google by only a few patents, while there are too many competitors to challenge the competition is huge.
Google has 307 patents related to mobile phones, with RIM’s 3134, the Nokia 2655, Microsoft is 2594.
Google is trying to narrow this gap by enhancing the acquisition of patents of others. In July last, Google has bought IBM’s 1000 patent after patent procurement acquisition of Nortel – the company specializes in manufacturing telecommunication equipment-failure.
CEO of investment bank MDB Capital Group, Mr. Christopher Marlett said: “This is an arms race. Other companies owned more than Google and bombs ready to use. ”
End of each lawsuit piracy, often each party will sign an agreement to share patents. However, the lawsuit will increase production costs, Android and the result is too large if the damage caused by lawsuits, the manufacturer would consider looking for an alternative operating system.
In fact, in 2010, HTC have agreed to pay Microsoft 5 USD / phone-related charges due to piracy.
